COP22 : Highways of Morocco and UNICEF sign a partnership for the promotion of children’s rights

Date:

Highways of Morocco (ADM) and UNICEF have just signed a partnership for the promotion of children’s rights. This strategic partnership aims to initiate a communication action to involve highway users in Morocco’s efforts to promote children’s rights and the environment. In the short term, and on the occasion of the COP22 that will be held in Morocco, the two organizations will combine their respective expertise to conduct a broad communication campaign on the entire Moroccan highway network. The objective of this action is to sensitize different highways users, and through them their families and entourage on the importance of reducing the impact of climate change on children.

According to the latest data, 99% of deaths attributed to climate change occur in developing countries; children representing 80% of these deaths. Climate change could cause an additional 250,000 deaths worldwide every year in children by 2100. The impact of climate change on children increases by the day. The joint action of UNICEF and ADM will contribute to greater awareness.

This operation on the occasion of COP22 should be a model for a more medium-term cooperation covering the period of the new cycle of cooperation between Morocco and UNICEF 2016 – 2021. The two partners have agreed to work together in order to involve ADM customers in the promotion and protection of children’s rights. Based on the priorities of the cooperation program between Morocco and UNICEF, joint teams of both partners will identify thematic awareness action items that will be deployed throughout the highway network.
